Jan Fennell's Method
In 1989, long before I became involved with dog training, Jan Fennell saw Monty Roberts demonstrate his ‘Horse Whisperer’ technique. She realised that his methods with horses could be adapted and used with dogs. She had never been comfortable with some of the harsh and even abusive dog training approaches she had witnessed and realised she had found a better way – one that actually worked because it used the dog’s own language. Jan formulated her method of communication and since then has developed a respectful, compassionate and highly effective alternative to traditional dog training methods.
Her understanding of the canine world and its language has earned her the title ‘The Dog Listener’. Jan's simple techniques draw on years of experience with dogs with behavioural problems and her methods have now been applied world-wide. Her approach bridges the gap that had previously separated man from - what should be - his best friend.
We recommend that you obtain one of Jan’s many books, such as those illustrated here, or her DVD. They provide an insight into her life-long love of dogs and explain in detail ‘Amichien Bonding’, the name she has given to her unique method of canine communication.
